Montrezl Harrell's decision to jump from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Los Angeles Lakers is the biggest surprise of the 2020-21 free agency period so far. However, judging by Harrell's teasing tweet 13 hours before the announcement was made public, it looks like he was indeed cooking something with the Purple and Gold brass earlier.

Interestingly enough, some Laker fans actually responded to that tweet 13 hours ago inviting Trez to join the Lakers. That wish was certainly granted after Harrell agreed to a two-year deal with the reigning champions. The signing of the 2020 Sixth Man of the Year winner couldn't have come at a better time for LA, as it came just hours after their free-agent center Dwight Howard agreed to join the Philadelphia 76ers.

Trez is coming off his best season as a pro, tallying impressive numbers of 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 63 games coming off the Clippers bench. His frustrations with LA were evident last year when he reportedly clashed with teammates throughout their underachieving 2019-20 campaign. His decision to join forces with the Clips' arch-nemesis will definitely be a great storyline in the upcoming 2020-21 season.

Moreover, it seems like his former teammate Patrick Beverley is already taking Harrell's move personally.

Montrezl Harrell's move to the Lakers definitely went under the radar, considering he was earlier linked to Eastern Conference teams New York Knicks and Charlotte Hornets.

Apart from Harrell, the Lakers have greatly retooled so far with the addition of Dennis Schroder from a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Wesley Matthews from free agency.
