Anthony Davis might be the Los Angeles Lakers' greatest haul of the offseason, but he by no means feels like the new kid on the block. If anything, this revamped version of the Lakers now feels like LeBron James joining the New Orleans Pelicans from 2017-18:

“LeBron thinks we're coming to his team but he's really coming to our team,” said Davis in an interview with Spectrum SportsNet. “Me, DeMarcus and Rondo already had a thing… Adding another great player like LeBron to that mix, we think it could definitely spell championships.”

Rajon Rondo, DeMarcus Cousins and Davis already had a connection going in The Big Easy, but they will now be challenged to re-discover it after a season apart and a new coaching staff that will likely play things out differently.

Rondo is unlikely to see starting minutes barring an injury, as James has been appointed the starting point guard of the team, while Cousins is yet to be a lock to start at center after recovering from Achilles and quad injuries.

So far the only two building blocks set in stone in that Lakers starting lineup are James and Davis — two generational talents who must yield the most of their supporting pieces to reach their championship-level potential.

If it all goes right for these two superstars, it won't matter who is joining whose team. There will only be the common goal of winning some hardware together in the near future.
