Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis could return in a week or two if all things go as planned.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN on NBA Countdown (via Dave McMenamin), Davis is set to be re-evaluated on Thursday when the Lakers return to LA. Moreover, given his development and perhaps depending on the evaluation, it is possible that he could return to action some time in the next 7-10 days after the evaluation.

For what it's worth, this Lakers news comes after LeBron James recently teased his upcoming return with AD on a post on Instagram.

The Lakers have been without Anthony Davis since mid-February due to a calf strain and Achilles tendon discomfort. LeBron also went down to an ankle injury soon after, and the Purple and Gold have expectedly struggled since.

It's such a shame considering The Brow was having a phenomenal start to his second season in LA. In 23 games before his injury, Davis was norming 22.5 points on 53.3 percent shooting from the floor and 29.3 percent from long range, along with 8.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.8 blocks.

Without the do-it-all big man anchoring the interior, the Lakers have lost six of its last 10 games and have dropped to fifth place in the loaded Western Conference with a 36-20 slate. AD's potential return couldn't have come at a better time since the reigning champs are in danger of falling to the playoff play-in tournament.

The Frank Vogel-mentored squad is set to be back to 100 percent soon, considering LeBron also teased his probably return from his own injury. However, the team will likely still err on the side of caution on Davis, considering his injury history over the years. Losing AD for another long stretch would be like a death sentence for LA, considering they have a lot of ground to cover to keep up with the top contenders in the division.
