It's taken much less than half an NBA season for Frank Vogel to impress his new Los Angeles Lakers team, including the stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Anthony Davis, who came over via trade over the summer, revealed Vogel earned his respect by holding everyone accountable, including him and his superstar sidekick James.

Following a performance against the New Orleans Pelicans in which the Lakers allowed 68 points in the paint on 67% shooting from the floor, Vogel would rip his team during an exhaustive film session showing a bevy of defensive mistakes.

“He got on all of us — me, LeBron, everyone. A lot of coaches don't get on their superstars, but he does,” said Davis, according to ESPN's Kevin Arnovtiz. “What's impressed me the most is that even when we win, he holds us accountable. When a team sees a coach getting on LeBron or me, the other guys respect him more and know they'll be held accountable too.”

This is the type of championship-level accountability that it takes for a team to bond not only through the joys of winning but also by taking shared responsibility. Role players are empowered knowing stars like Davis and James are just as much to blame as the ones doing an unsung job most of the season.

Tackling that criticism as a unit instead of individually creates a bond that is tough to replace in a locker room, along with the respect that comes with being a coach that takes no favorites.
