Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis was supposed to wear number 23 next season after it was gifted to him by LeBron James, but it was postponed as Nike couldn't accommodate the sudden change.

Nike prevented AD from donning No.23 next season due to “production issues and the massive financial hit” they would have taken because of the massive number of old LeBron James jerseys already produced.

Davis will be able to wear No. 23 in the 2020-21 season. As for this upcoming campaign, AD confirmed he will use No.3 — which he last used way back to his elementary days.

There aren't many notable Laker players who wore No. 3 in the past. Only Devean George and Trevor Ariza have made a name for themselves while wearing No. 3 for the Purple and Gold, so it is likely that Davis will make that number extremely popular next season.

As for LeBron, he also won't be able to wear No. 6 next year.

Fans were already excited to see LeBron and AD wear No. 6 and 23 respectively, especially when you consider the fact that it took Nike almost two weeks to react to this matter. Still, people would rather see them play at their best on the court rather than change to their favorite numbers.

After all, they came to the Lakers to help them win championships. For the fans in the city of Angels and all over the world, there's nothing more important than seeing the team hoist a Larry O'Brien trophy in June.
