Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Damian Lillard believes Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is still the best player in the world.

During a guest appearance on “The Joe Budden Podcast,” Lillard explained why Russell Westbrook isn't considered the best player in the league despite averaging a triple-double in the past three seasons. And when asked about who he thinks deserves the honor, the Blazers star didn't hesitate and said it's LeBron.

James may have failed to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to the playoffs in his first year with the team, but he did put up great numbers. He averaged 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game in 2018-19. Moreover, if not for The King's groin injury and subsequent 18-game absence, the Purple and Gold might have been able to make the playoffs.

LeBron remains one of the most impactful players in NBA history, and there's a reason why he is still considered by Lillard and many more to be the top player in the NBA.

The pressure is on LeBron to deliver a championship to the Lakers, and he promised fans he will. He said he wants to be remembered as one of the greatest players to ever don a Laker jersey, and now is the time to prove it.

Ironically, one of the teams that could make it difficult for LeBron's title quest next season is Lillard's Blazers, who made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals last season.
