DeMarcus Cousins revealed that he was in constant communication with Anthony Davis and Rajon Rondo before he decided to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints, Cousins said that he had conversations with Rondo and Davis this offseason. The three stars played together in New Orleans during the 2017-18 NBA season, and Cousins admitted that they have frequently discussed the possibility of teaming up again.

The dominoes started to fall into their favor this summer. The Lakers acquired Anthony Davis from the Pelicans in the deal that sent Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks to New Orleans. His arrival in Los Angeles placed the Lakers among the title contenders next season.

The Lakers wanted to pair Davis and LeBron James with Kawhi Leonard, but the latter opted to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers. In turn, the Lakers used their cap space to sign a mixture of veterans and young players to fill up their roster for the 2019-20 NBA season.

Cousins agreed to sign a one-year deal worth $3.5 million for next season.

Rondo, on the other hand, secured a two-year contract worth $5.18 million to return to the Lakers, where he played 46 games last season.
