Could Dennis Schroder be the newest offseason acquisition for the Los Angeles Lakers? According to his recent Instagram activity, the Houston Rockets guard would be more than happy to rejoin his former team.

LeBron James commented “Tuff!!” on Schroder's joint post with European power forward Rupee Kolawole. Shortly after, Dennis Schroder replied to King James, writing, “might gotta run it back ?!”

Legion Hoops captured the interaction and shared it on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

Schroder was the Lakers' starting point guard in the 2020-2021 season. He started in all 61 games he played, averaging 15.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds. The team went 42-30 in the regular season and lost the the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs.

That offseason, the team acquired Russell Westbrook, ultimately kicking Dennis Schroder out the door. He then moved on to play for the Boston Celtics until being traded to the Houston Rockets ahead of the 2022 NBA Trade Deadline.

Schroder didn't have a solid starting role with the Celtics or the Rockets. However, his proposition to “run it back” with the Lakers could be a step in the right direction.

Think about it. The team moved on from Schroder after picking up Westbrook, and the 33-year-old didn't exactly have an outstanding performance last season. He fell far behind the Lakers' expectations and even garnered the nickname “Westbrick” for his inconsistent shooting.

Now, there's talk of a massive trade involving the guard. The Lakers have a lot to fix, and maybe giving a familiar face a second chance isn't such a bad idea?
