Before deciding to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, DJ Augustin apparently had other teams pursuing his services. The 34-year-old veteran has been around the block quite a bit and while he's no star, he can still emerge as a solid contributor for his team.

Augustin has now spoken out about why he opted to join LeBron James and the Lakers despite interest from other teams. According to the 5-foot-11 point guard, it was all about LA's rich history:

“I had a few other teams calling me,” Augustin said, via Mike Trudell of Spectrum SN. “… but when the Lakers call … you think about the history, the championships … Kobe … Magic (and so many others). I would have regretted not jumping on the opportunity.”

Augustin clearly has a certain affinity with the Lakers and he quickly jumped on the opportunity to join the squad the moment they called.

“Just excited to be a part of this franchise,” Augustin said, via Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints. “… Something like this is really special in my eyes, at this point in my career.”
Since joining the league in 2008 as a ninth overall pick by the Charlotte Bobcats, Augustin has been with no less than 10 different teams in 13 years. The Lakers are the 11th team he will be suiting up for in what has been a colorful career.
