Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard had one of the most bizarre preseason debuts in the entire history of the NBA and that's not even an exaggeration.

On Sunday, the returning eight-time All-Star debuted for the Purple & Gold as the Lakers hosted the Brooklyn Nets for their first preseason game. And, in typical Dwight Howard fashion, the former NBA champion went from being fouled to throwing an inadvertent elbow, to chatting with James Harden midcourt and eventually being eliminated from the game.

“Oh man, that was crazy,” the Lakers center said (via Silver Screen And Roll). “That sequence was crazy. I didn’t know I got a tech. I got a tech for standing by Trevor (Ariza). Then I got a flagrant foul after the guy got a foul on me…I didn’t know I got a tech because I didn’t do anything to deserve one but I’m still going to go out there and have fun, play hard and play aggressive.”

Let me try and break down the crazy sequence.

It all started with a loose ball foul called on Brooklyn's Day'Ron Sharpe which resulted in Howard's elbow accidentally hitting Sharpe's mouth. The referee decided to hold a very lengthy review on the play which gave Howard more than enough time to chat with Harden alongside Lakers' Trevor Ariza who were both not dressed up to play.

Apparently, the casual chat between these three vets was way too much for one of the officials to call a technical foul on the Lakers center. Then, the referees finally came to a conclusion that a flagrant foul was to be issued on Howard while a free throw was also to be awarded to him due to the loose ball foul.

Thing is, Howard was already fouled out after all the fouls were issued but none of the officials caught that fact and the three-time DPOY was able to sneak in and knock down a free throw. They did eventually figure it out and Howard was ultimately subbed out.

The sequence was so crazy that the entire Lakers bench, including LeBron James and Russell Westbrook, were all smiles as Howard exited the game:

Something tells me this season is going to be a crazy one for the Los Angeles Lakers.
