Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard has already competed in the dunk contest three times during his career and won it once. However, as he prepared for his fourth appearance, the veteran big man has a trick up his sleeve: Kobe Bryant.

Or at least, that's the plan anyway.

According to Bill Oram of The Athletic, Howard is trying to incorporate his former teammate and Lakers legend into one of his dunks. No information is out whether or not Bryant will help Howard in his quest for a second slam dunk title, but it sure would make for entertaining television.

Bryant and Howard have a bit of a mixed past. Dwight joined Kobe's Lakers via blockbuster trade in the summer of 2012.

Howard, Bryant, Steve Nash and Pau Gasol were supposed to give the Lakers a superteam that season. Instead, the Purple and Gold were swept in the first round of the playoffs. It did not help that Howard and Bryant reportedly did not get along with each other all that well.

Howard competed in three straight dunk contests from 2007-2009, winning in 2008 with a memorable dunk with a Superman cape on his back.

After bouncing around with the Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards, the 34-year-old big man has returned to Los Angeles for a second time.

Dwight Howard is a role player this time, but regardless, he is filling that role exceptionally well. In 19.9 minutes per contest, he is putting up 7.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting an efficient 72.8 percent from the floor.
