Can it actually happen? Could the Los Angeles Lakers actually land both Kyrie Irving AND Kevin Durant to form a new Big 3 with LeBron James? Well, retired NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas seems to think so.

This idea was first floated by ESPN's NBA guru Brian Windhorst, who said that in order for the Lakers to acquire both KD and Kyrie, they will need to send Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook in the opposite direction. Sensational as this may sound, Arenas explained why he believes this potential blockbuster deal actually has some legs:

“Lakers are the only team that's suited to make a deal work,” Arenas said (h/t Lee Tran of Fadeaway World). “Because it's less paperwork. I can straight up trade Kyrie for Russ, Kevin Durant for Anthony Davis. It's a fair trade on both sides. You can possibly give Nets someone young… But other than that you can do straight up two stars for two stars.

Both teams feel like, ‘We got something out of it,'”

He's not completely wrong here. Both the Nets and the Lakers are looking for a fresh start, and this deal could be what both teams need right now. Kevin Durant has already declared his desire to jump ship, and Kyrie Irving isn't exactly happy in Brooklyn right now. It feels like it's only a matter of time before these two leave the Nets, and for their part, getting a Davis-Westbrook package in return isn't all that bad.

As for the Lakers, the prospect of a new LeBron, KD, and Kyrie Big 3 makes this a bit of a no-brainer — even if it means losing AD.
