Veteran shooting guard Nick Young is still on the open market, and Los Angeles Lakers center JaVale McGee says it would be great if the team signed his good friend.

McGee and Young won a championship together last season with the Golden State Warriors. In 80 regular-season games with Golden State, Nick Young averaged 7.3 points while shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Finally your brother, Nick Young, is still a free agent and has voiced his opinions publicly about helping this Lakers squad. Would you want him in purple and gold this season?

McGee: If he gets signed, that would be great so, definitely, yeah.

Nick Young played for the Lakers from 2013-17. He is one of the most inconsistent players in the game, as you never really know what you’re going to get from him on a nightly basis. When he’s hitting his shot, though, Young can be a valuable scorer off the bench and floor spacer, something the Lakers need.

The Lakers have McGee, Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley on the roster. Adding Nick Young to the club would just add more fuel to the fire that Los Angeles really is LeBron James and the team of misfits.
