NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is very happy for Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, who passed Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

Abdul-Jabbar, who is No. 1 on the all-time scoring list, compared LeBron James' special moment to when he passed Wilt Chamberlain on the scoring list back in 1984.

Wilt was Kareem's idol, just like Jordan was LeBron's.

“I just wanted to congratulate you on your most recent accomplishment, passing Michael Jordan. I know he was your hero and how much it means to you to pass someone you’ve admired your whole life. Same thing happened to me, back in 1984. I was able to pass Wilt’s record, someone that I had admired when I was a kid.”

This is awesome. LeBron James was very emotional when he passed Michael Jordan, and it's easy to see why.

James grew up in Akron with a single mother. He was never supposed to make it to the NBA considering he was growing up in an area where most kids don't make it out.

Now, LeBron is the fourth-leading scorer in NBA history. It's really the greatest story ever told.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar scored 38,387 points during his legendary career. LeBron has to pass Kobe Bryant and Karl Malone first before he takes on Kareem's record.
