Kenny “The Jet” Smith believes he knows what the Lakers need to turn things around next season. Smith recently explained why he believes hiring Mark Jackson could produce a similar effect to the Warriors dynasty.

“Mark Jackson, he knows how to handle that kind of environment. He put the Warriors in contention of what they are. The way they play, their style of play. Steph Curry owes a lot to his career, because before Mark got there, Steph Curry wouldn't even play in 4th quarters. We wouldn't think he was a great player, a great defender.”

He then made a claim that Lakers fans will absolutely love to hear.

“Mark Jackson could coach the Lakers to a championship, for sure.”

A recent report stated that Lebron James was “enthused” by the idea of Mark Jackson replacing Frank Vogel in LA. And we know when LeBron wants something he tends to get it… isn't that right Russell Westbrook?

Nonetheless, Mark Jackson's only NBA head coaching experience came with the Warriors from 2011-2014. But Jackson showed great prowess as a head coach and it is a bit surprising that he has not coached since 2014. Following a difficult beginning in Golden State, he led the Warriors to back-to-back playoff appearances during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 campaigns. He does deserve some credit for jumpstarting Golden State's ensuing dynasty.

Would he be able to do the same thing with the Lakers? Possibly. But it has been a few years since he led an NBA team. It will be interesting to monitor the relationship between the Lakers and Mark Jackson moving forward.
