Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was the victim of a horrifying incident last June as he was robbed at gunpoint. Now it appears the Los Angeles Lakers star's case is being investigated for a possible link to an emerging LA crime syndicate.

The Lakers guard was hanging out with friends along his driveway at 4 a.m. when a vehicle pulled up and three men drew out weapons against KCP's party. The suspects got away with a reported $150,000 in valuables, which included a Rolex, iPhone, and other pieces of jewelry, per report from TMZ. Caldwell-Pope and his group were unharmed

The case was seen as possibly an isolated case at first. But on June 25, a little over a week after the Lakers star's incident, Fashion Nova CEO Richard Saghian was pursued in a similar manner. But this time, things escalated into a shootout that turned deadly. Saghian had security that engaged the suspects, resulting in the death of one of the suspects and injuring another.

It's not clear whether these were the same men who robbed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. But given the high-profile cases going after a Lakers player and a Fashion CEO, the police are investigating for a possible link to a larger crime ring, as several other cases have been sprouting across Los Angeles.

Keep safe and lock your doors, people.
