Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant once again admits he will be happy for LeBron James when The King passes him on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Bryant says it would be “kind of juvenile” to be upset:

“I don't know if people want that or want to have this kind of contentious thing where you don't want records to be broken or people there to surpass you,” Kobe Bryant told Mark Medina of USA TODAY Sports. “You should be happy for the person that comes after you to be able to surpass things that you've done. It's kind of juvenile to think or to behave any other way.”

LeBron is currently at 33,578 career points in the regular season, which is 65 points shy of Kobe's 33,643. James should be able to pass Bryant in the next few games.

Some Lakers fans are going to be torn when James passes Bryant. Kobe is still No. 1 in the heart of the Lakers faithful, and many don’t want to see Bryant’s place on the all-time scoring list get lower.

However, when James signed with the Lakers in the summer of 2018, this was always going to be a possibility for die-hard Bryant fans. Watching LeBron pass Kobe won’t be easy for some fans, but it’s still a big moment in NBA history they should appreciate.

In his second season with the Lakers, LeBron is averaging 25.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and a career-high 11.0 assists. He’s shooting 49.1 percent from the field, 34.1 percent from beyond the arc and 69.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers are 34-9 on the season, which is good for the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference. LeBron James and the Lakers will face Kyrie Irving and the scuffling Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night.
