Los Angeles Lakers youngster Kyle Kuzma may have taken a back seat with LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the fold, but that doesn't mean he's no longer the same offensive threat he showed early in his career.

On Sunday against the Toronto Raptors, Kuzma showed the athleticism and explosiveness that makes him such a lethal scorer. As Markieff Morris passed him the ball from the left wing late in the first quarter, Kuz took matters into his own hands and drove to the basket before throwing down a vicious reverse dunk over rookie Freddie Gillespie.

Put simply, the Lakers forward schooled the rook and showed no mercy in the process:

Kyle Kuzma's averages this 2020-21 campaign have taken a huge dip compared to his first two years in the NBA when he averaged 17.3 points for the Lakers. However, his improvement as a playmaker and a better all-around player is noteworthy.

Sure enough, it is nice to see Kuzma getting his confidence back and attacking the rim at will, especially after all the criticisms he had to endure early in the season. The Lakers will need the young forward to step up and continue to develop heading to the playoffs.

Kuzma can very well be the X-factor the Lakers need to propel them to the NBA Finals once again and defend their title. However, that will only happen if the 25-year-old can stay consistent and be more involved in the offense and defense.
