Over the course of his first eight games with the Los Angeles Lakers, Lonzo Ball has shown flashes of brilliance while also some showcasing some flaws in his game. Ball has been extremely passive in his first two weeks with the rookie guard struggling to find the right balance between scoring and distrubing the basketball.

On Thursday, the Lakers fell to the Portland Trail Blazers with Damian Lillard hitting a game-winning three resulting in the fifth loss of the season for Los Angeles. In the loss to the Blazers, Ball went scoreless for the first time in his rookie campaign.

Fellow rookie Kyle Kuzma, who has had no problem making the transition to the NBA level thus far, talked about Ball's passive tendencies in the early going and how he needs to be more aggressive offensively, via Serena Winters of LakersNation.com.

Ball has only cracked double-digit scoring twice in the eight games he's played to start the season. After scoring only three points in the season opener against the L.A. Clippers, Ball exploded for a career-high 29 points against the Phoenix Suns and came one assist shy of a triple-double.

Although assists (6.6) and rebounds (6.8) haven't been a problem for the UCLA product as he's been productive in those areas, scoring has been hot and cold. Ball is currently averaging 9.1 points per game with no telling what he'll put up in that category on a nightly basis.

There's no question this revamped Lakers team is a better overall team than it has been in years past. Head coach Luke Walton has his players motivated and playing competitive basketball night in and night out, but Ball has yet to put it all together in his first season.
