Kyle Kuzma definitely ha an appreciation for greatness, especially playing for a team with as storied a history as the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers officially retired the jerseys of Kobe Bryant on Monday night in the game against the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors. Both number 8 and number 24 were revealed in the rafters between the Chick Hearn microphone jersey during the halftime ceremony that saw President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson as well as owner Jeanie Buss speak about the Lakers' legend himself.

Current Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma played a great game, and even posted a personal ‘thank you' graphic on Twitter for

“Thank you for showing us how to play the game fearlessly,” said Kuzma in the image. “Thank you for creating the Mamba Mentality. Thank you for showing us that the game is more mental than physical. Thank you for being you. There will never be another.”

Clearly, Kuzma thinks highly of Bryant and what he's done for the franchise as well as the game of basketball. About a month ago, Kuzma went to have dinner with Bryant, where the two discussed working hard and exchanging stories about how they worked their way to where they are.

“What was he doing as a young player to make those steps that he made to get from here to here. From here to here. Just what he did as a young player or what he wanted to learn back then. Stuff like that.”

Kuzma has averaged 16.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists in his first 27 games of the season, putting together what's been a very impressive and surprising case for Rookie of the Year. he's surely making Kobe Bryant proud.
