The hits keep coming for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers as the team got rocked with latest COVID-19 health and safety protocol news.
According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel and veteran swingman Kent Bazemore both entered COVID protocol over the weekend. Assistant coach David Fizdale will take the reins from Vogel for the meantime.
Via McMenamin:
Frank Vogel has entrees the health and safety protocols and David Fizdale will coach tonight in Chicago, the Lakers say. Also, Kent Bazemore has entered the protocols as well.
The Lakers have dealt with basically half their roster being placed in health and safety protocols in the past week. Bazemore joins an ever-expanding list that included Russell Westbrook, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Malik Monk.
Vogel previously had two of his Lakers assistant coaches separated from the team before having himself being restricted as well.
Los Angeles continues to hover around the .500 mark, but has looked much improved as of late compared to where they were earlier in the season.
With the amount of injury turnover on their roster and lack of continuity that's plagued them, the Lakers have yet to find a consistent rhythm to propel them up the standings. This latest health and safety news just piles on even further.
