LaVar Ball has always envisioned his three sons playing together with the Los Angeles Lakers. His plans were off to a good start when the purple and gold drafted Lonzo Ball back in 2017. However, when LiAngelo Ball declared for the NBA Draft last year, the Lakers invited him for workouts but never selected him, even though they had the 39th pick.

The Ball family patriarch was upset with how everything transpired, especially since he claims that Lakers' former president of basketball operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka promised him that they would give LiAngelo an opportunity to play with his brother. He shared his sentiments with NBA analysts Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe in a recent episode of The Undisputed.

The fate of LiAngelo in the draft was sealed when he was involved in an incident in China where he and some of his friends were caught stealing luxury bags and other stuff. It was clear right from that point that no NBA team will be interested in picking up someone who's already built a bad reputation even before entering the league. The Lakers, were and are still trying to rebuild their image, will surely not be the ones to make that mistake.

However, if Johnson and Pelinka indeed promised LaVar that they would draft LiAngelo, then they have enough reasons as to why they didn't push through with it.

Will LiAngelo get the opportunity with the Lakers now that Magic is gone? That's still highly unlikely. So LaVar's dreams about his sons represent the Lakers will no longer turn into reality.
