The Los Angeles Lakers lost 120-107 to the Boston Celtics on Saturday night. It was their fifth straight loss, and even though they have tried to keep the game close for the first 32 minutes, they just couldn't keep up with their opponents down the stretch.
The Lakers trailed 57-47 at the half but trimmed the lead down to six early in the third quarter. However, they failed to make their 3-pointers when it mattered most, allowing the Celtics to run riot and blow the game wide open.
After the game, LeBron James addressed the Lakers' 3-point shooting struggles, saying they were getting good looks, but the shots just aren't falling.
“We're getting good looks. We're all getting good looks. You want to try to knock them down, but you can't stop the ball movement. The ball movement is there. We've just gotta try to knock open ones down. It's not a strength of our team,” LeBron told Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints.
“The strength of our team is playing in transition. Playing in the paint and when our shooters get some open looks, we gotta get it to them and trust that they're going to make it, so that's it.”
The Lakers shot 5-27 (18.5 percent) from beyond the arc.
No one among the Lakers were able to make at least 50 percent of their 3-pointers. Both LeBron James and Moritz Wagner were 1-of-5, Reggie Bullock was 1-of-6, and Josh Hart was 2-of-6.
Meanwhile, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope missed all of his three 3-point attempts.
The Lakers have shot the ball poorly from deep all season, and not having Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma just hurt their chances of winning the game against Boston even more.
