With vaccines for the coronavirus slowly being distributed across the world, the closer we get to having COVID-19 protocols loosed in the NBA. With the elderly and frontline workers receiving the vaccine first, we're now trickling our way to even more of the population. For this reason, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was asked if he plans to get vaccinated once he's eligible during his All-Star media session.

Rather than give an outright answer, James decided to deflect the question away:

This is a take that makes some sense for someone whose entire life has been in the spotlight. Receiving a vaccination isn't something most people enjoy sharing, nor is it a topic that generates a casual conversation. However, since we're in the midst of a pandemic, James, along with several celebrities alike, will be asked their opinion on receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

It could be a great way to generate publicity and potentially raise awareness about getting vaccinated. Back in the day, Elvis Pressley did a photo-op where he received a polio vaccine. He did it to raise awareness and increase the number of people to get the vaccine as well.

As for LeBron James, he's opting to take the confidential approach with the vaccine, which is drawing some criticism on social media:

Others, though, think LeBron shouldn't have to say anything:

We'll see how it plays out, as technically, it's nobody's business whether LeBron James gets vaccinated or not. A questionable decision, however, as the more people get vaccinated, the sooner we can fully open the world up once again. With James sitting in the spotlight every time he talks, we'll see if he might reconsider or at least clarify his answer to the question.
