LeBron James will face a familiar foe as early as the preseason, as the Los Angeles Lakers are slated for two exhibition games against the Golden State Warriors on October.
The first preseason meeting will occur on Oct. 10 in Las Vegas then two days later, both teams will stare each other on the court again at the SAP Center in San Jose, according to Jon Becker of the Santa Cruz Sentinel. It would be James’ first appearance in a Lakers uniform in the Bay Area and his first game there since Game 2 of the 2018 NBA Finals back in June, when the four-time league Most Valuable Player and the Cleveland Cavaliers picked up a 122-103 loss, though, that game occurred at Oracle Arena. SAP Center is more famous today for being the home of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks.
LeBron James’ decision to take his basketball career to Los Angeles has moved him closer to the Golden State Warriors, the team that has been his Bogeyman over the past few of seasons.
James has lost a total of three NBA Finals series to the Warriors against one win in 2016. This year, he and the Cavs got mercilessly swept by Golden State despite a herculean effort from James throughout the four-game series in which he averaged 34.0 points, 10.0 assists, and 8.5 rebounds per contest. James, of course, has no need to go as hard in the preseason as he did in that series with the Warriors, with nothing but meaningless pride on the line.
Other than the Warriors, the Lakers will also face the Denver Nuggets, the Sacramento Kings, and the L.A. Clippers in the preseason.
