Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James joined hands with the Boston Celtics in showing support for WNBA star Brittney Griner and campaigning for her release from Russian detention.

On Saturday, the Celtics wore black t-shirts with an orange print that reads “WE ARE BG.” Jaylen Brown also spoke about the issue and called for authorities to help Griner be released, highlighting that “enough is enough.”

After seeing the Celtics' gesture, James reposted the video on his Instagram Story and captioned it with “#WEAREBG” as the Lakers star tried to bring more awareness to the issue.

Brittney Griner has been detained in Russia for over 100 days now, and there's still no clarity on when she'll be released.

The WNBA star, who plays for the Phoenix Mercury, was arrested after custom officials in Russa reportedly found vape cartridges in her luggage. Unfortunately, the said cartridges contained hashish oil–a substance derived from cannabis–which is illegal in the country. Apparently, such offense is punishable of up to 10 years of prison time.

It remains to be seen what the US government will do with the issue, although they have declared Griner to be wrongfully detained. There were talks about a potential prisoner exchange to get Griner, but as things currently stand, there has been no definitive action taken to get Griner out.
