The Los Angeles Lakers are officially out of play-in tournament contention after Tuesday's brutal loss to the Phoenix Suns. With just three games left in the season heading into Thursday, LeBron James would have to suit up for two of them in order to be eligible to win the scoring title. But with the season already deemed a failure, it appears he doesn't care about the individual accolade.
The King will miss yet another contest and is likely done for the season at this point. Via Dave McMenamin:
LeBron James (ankle) and Anthony Davis (foot) are both out tonight, per the Lakers.

As noted, Anthony Davis is also unavailable for the Lakers. Los Angeles will certainly face a tough task against the Golden State Warriors without their two stars. Russell Westbrook isn't playing, either.

LeBron suffered an ankle injury on March 27th against the New Orleans Pelicans, then proceeded to six the next two games. He came back to play the Pels again on April 1st but after they lost, it seems James threw in the towel, not taking the floor since.
Despite the disappointment of the campaign for the Lakers, The King proved that he is still an absolute force at 37-years-old, averaging 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. He also shot 36% from downtown. To be crowned scoring champ, you need to play at least 58 games. James is at 56 heading into Thursday.
Now, it's time for LA to make some major moves this offseason to hopefully get this group back into contention. Trading Westbrook and getting some sort of return will be one of the main priorities after his nightmare season.
