Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was in awe of Tennis phenom Naomi Osaka after she came back to win the US Open title against Victoria Azarenka on Saturday.

The World No.9 struggled early in the game, losing the opening set with a horrendous 1-6 scoreline. However, Osaka bounced back with a strong display in the second frame and maintained the momentum as she smashed Azarenka to win two straight sets with a 6-3 score in each.

It is Osaka's second US Open title after winning the competition in 2018. She now has three Grand Slam titles to her name, including her 2019 Australian Open victory.

With her performance, the Lakers forward heaped praised on Osaka and congratulated her for the well-deserved victory.

Naomi Osaka's win is certainly big, not only for the Japanese but also for the African-American community. After all, during the competition, Osaka protested against racism and social injustices by wearing a face mask with the name of Breonna Taylor and other victims of police brutality on it.

LeBron James, the Lakers and the whole NBA have been fighting for the same cause throughout the NBA restart, so they will certainly be happy to see Osaka given another platform to speak out about it.

As for the Lakers, they will try to close out the Houston Rockets in Game 5, as they currently lead their second-round series 3-1. Hopefully, LeBron will be motivated by the performance he saw from Naomi early in the day.
