Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was caught in a verbal exchange with fans sitting courtside in the Lakers' game against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night, resulting in the expulsion of these fans from State Farm Arena.

One of the hecklers, Juliana Carlos, claimed she was drinking wine during the game when she took issue with something LeBron said and shot back, “Don't f***ing talk to my husband.” The Lakers star allegedly responded back to her and said, “Sit the f*** down, b****.” Carlos said that both of them exchanged expletives after her husband, Chris, initially got involved with James, which caused her to retaliate.

The Athletic reviewed courtside video from several sources and could only make out this comment from LeBron James: “Ol' steroid ass.”

The couple, along with the rest of their group, were all escorted out of State Farm Arena before the game officially ended. The Hawks are investigating the incident.

After the incident, James eventually buckled down to lead his team to a 107-99 victory. LeBron finished the game with an all-around performance of 21 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists, while Anthony Davis added 25 points of his own. After the win, the Lakers improved to a 16-6 record for the third spot in the Western Conference.

The four-time NBA MVP also shared his side of the story after the game:

“Oh, well my guy tonight, I don’t want to say he went overboard, but he went a little bit out of bounds,” LeBron James said. “Too close to comfort for me. And I said my piece, and we could’ve moved on. But I think it was so close to the officials, I think the official heard it as well, what he had said, and it kind of got blown out of proportion.”

LeBron James and the rest of the Lakers will aim to move on from the incident as they look for their third consecutive victory when they host the Denver Nuggets on Thursday.
