In a huge win for the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, LeBron James celebrated a clutch three that he hit late in the game with a familiar celebration, one that LA fans have seen before–just with a different player.

The infamous celebration, made famous by Sam Cassell and the movie “Major League” is a move that only greats in the game can pull off nowadays–especially with social media. LeBron is that kind of star and he showed that on Wednesday. In a game that the Lakers had to have at the end of their second-longest road trip of the year, the team learned just hours before tipoff that they would be without Anthony Davis. Enter LeBron to the rescue.

In 43 minutes against a Pacers team that most recently blew the doors off of the same Chicago Bulls squad that destroyed the Lakers last week, James hit 13-29 shots, including 5-12 from three, good for 39 points. He added five rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and a steal with just two turnovers in the huge pre-Thanksgiving win.

The Lakers' next game is against the Sacramento Kings at home on Friday and the team will surely be hoping that Anthony Davis will be back into to fold by then. For the 2021 NBA season, Davis is the only player in the NBA who is averaging 20 points and two blocks per game. His defense was instrumental in the Lakers attaining the number one defensive rating in 2020 and will be key if the Lakers are going to improve from their current standing as just the 20th best defense in the NBA.
