It appears that Nigel Hayes has another shot at an NBA roster. According to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports, the Lakers have signed Hayes to a 10-day contract.

The Los Angeles Lakers are signing forward Nigel Hayes of G League's Westchester to a 10-day contract, league sources tell Yahoo.

Hayes, a former Wisconsin Badger, averaged 14.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists, while shooting 44 percent from the 3-point line. According to Chris Dortch of ESPN, Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard had delightful things to say about his plucky young power forward.

“Being such a multi-dimensional player—meaning he can play well along the perimeter, he's got size against people inside, he's got strength and quickness—the one thing that probably gets overlooked a lot and doesn't get talked about enough is his ability to pass and his vision”

Villanova head coach Jay Wright also had praise for Hayes, whom he thought was a nightmare match-up for his Wildcats team.

“He's a nightmare matchup … He's developed as a passer, decision maker, and shooter. When he first came in, he's kind of a rugged, aggressive guy, energy guy. Now, he's just a complete basketball player. He can shoot it from 3, he can drive it, he passes it, he posts up. He's a great defender on the perimeter and the post.”

The Lakers have sustained injuries to Lonzo Ball, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Kyle Kuzma. Therefore, it makes sense that the they are trying to expand their depth by adding new talent. Even if this is just a 10-day contract for Hayes, hopefully he can prove his worth and get a stable NBA rotation spot. Also, hopefully this will work out for the Lakers as well.
