Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton says superstar forward LeBron James still isn't 100 percent recovered from his groin injury.

Walton admitted to reporters on Friday that James still has some nagging pain.

LeBron James is averaging 26.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 10.2 assists since returning from his groin injury. The King is also shooting 49.6 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 60.8 percent from the free-throw line over that stretch.

At this point, the Lakers should probably just shut James down for the rest of the season. Los Angeles isn't going to make the playoffs this season, but the silver lining to all of this is that LeBron is going to get the most rest he's gotten since his second season in the league this summer. That's the last time James didn't play in the postseason.

LeBron can come back rejuvenated next season after getting some rest in the offseason. If Los Angeles is able to trade for New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis, or sign another star player in free agency, one season of missing the playoffs in the James era might not be such a bad thing.

The Lakers have 17 games remaining on the season. We'll see how Luke Walton and the organization handles James' workload for the rest of the season.
