Magic Johnson says LeBron James’ agent, Rich Paul, only flew on Lakers team plane once
Former Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson says he allowed LeBron James’ agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, to fly on the team plane once this season.
Johnson says Paul told him he was in Brooklyn and the team just so happened to be there as well. Paul represents James and Lakers shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, so Magic decided it was okay for Paul to fly back with the team on that night.
Magic Johnson: "Rich Paul had access to the #Lakers because he had 2 clients w/ the Lakers. He called & said, 'Hey, I'm in Brooklyn.' We talked about allowing him to fly back w/ the team. That's the only time he flew w/ the team because he was in Brooklyn & I allowed him to do..

A report from ESPN on Tuesday claimed Paul rode on the Lakers’ charter plane on multiple occasions this season. The report also said agents of players flying on the team plane was highly unusual, a former player called it “a culture killer” and a club spokesperson confirmed that Paul has ridden on the team charter, though he said it happened only once, just like Magic said today on SportsCenter.
Magic, of course, doesn’t work for the Lakers anymore. He resigned from his job near the end of the regular season. It looks like Johnson made the right move, as the Lakers are a mess right now under the leadership of general manager Rob Pelinka.
Even in the offseason, the Purple and Gold continue to make headlines for the wrong reason.
