Orlando Magic veteran big man Timofey Mozgov recently gave his two cents worth on what went wrong with the season of the Los Angeles Lakers and former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James.

According to Mozgov, people should not read too much into the Lakers' disappointments this season, and that this by no means prove that LeBron's move to L.A. will wind up a total disaster:

“Guys get hurt and stuff like that,” Mozgov said, via Ben Stinar of Amico Hoops “They’re in their first year together. I don’t think we have to be petty or be talking about, ‘What’s going on in LA or like this is LeBron’s fault, the coaches fault’ or whatever. This is basketball. Sometimes teams don’t expect what fans do, you know, don’t do what fans expect.”

Mozgov does have a point here. Then again, as he himself stated, it is still very difficult for both Lakers supporters and casual basketball fans to not feel let down by the team's underwhelming performances this season given how high the expectations were prior to the season.

There are some who have put the blame on James himself, suggesting that he is the very reason why there is an alleged discord within the team, which has translated to poor performances on the court. Mozgov is having none of this, saying that he has nothing but fond memories with James during their time together:

“I like playing with LeBron,” Mozgov said. “It’s simple for me. If you don’t, you don’t.”

Mozgov played two seasons with the Cavs between 2014 and 2016, and would play his part in the team's historic championship run in the 2015-16 season.
