Mavs owner Mark Cuban shared more thoughts on the passing of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant in a tweet that was sent out on Monday morning.

As part of his message, Cuban noted that the tragic event seems to have brought the nation closer than it has been in quite a while:

“I hope we all remember that Kobe and Gianna have brought our country closer together than anyone has in a generation,” Cuban wrote. “Their memory truly is a blessing that we should build on.”

This comes after Cuban announced that the Mavs have retired the No. 24 in honor of Kobe.

Kobe Bryant was killed at the age of 41 in a helicopter crash before noon on Sunday morning. Sadly, all nine passengers on the flight, including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, perished in the accident. According to reports, the Lakers great was on his way to the Mamba Sports Academy, where he was set to serve as a coach for young campers.

Bryant and Gianna shared a close bond, which was evident in their sideline mentoring sessions. Though he was retired, Kobe would often sit courtside with her, evaluating games as they played on. Gianna was an up-and-coming basketball talent in her own right, which makes this accident even more tragic:

Cuban is right in his assessment. The Lakers along with the entire NBA community have been shaken to its core with the loss of Bryant, one of the league's greatest ambassadors. If anything has been made crystal clear, it's that life is not guaranteed, and we need to value every moment.
