The Los Angeles Lakers are in search of their next head coach. The Toronto Raptors happen to employ one of the best head coaches in the game in Nick Nurse.

As with any Lakers pursuit, whether it be for a big-name star or a head coach, their front office goes after the biggest of big fish. With championship experience and a decades-long coaching resume, Nick Nurse certainly qualifies as a major get as far as coaches go.

But if there were any interest from the Lakers in Nick Nurse, they haven't manifested it yet. It's still just a pipe dream, which is how Raptors team president Masai Ujiri put it as well.

Via The Athletic's Eric Koreen:

“No team has contacted me about (Nick Nurse). … I dream like they dream. I want Messi. I want Ronaldo. I want Kobe Bryant. They can dream, too,” said Masai Ujiri when asked about Nurse potentially getting poached by a rival team such as the Lakers.

The Raptors have built a culture and team identity that is one of the most distinct in the entire NBA. Nick Nurse has been the perfect orchestrator to ensure that all their moving parts are operating exactly how the team wants them to.

Handing Nick Nurse a cerebral superstar like LeBron James could be a match made in heaven, for Lakers fans at least. But judging by Masai Ujiri's responde, Raptors fans would be much less enthused by the idea.
