Harrison Faigen of Silver Screen & Roll recently sat down with Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton for a wide-ranging interview. Amid their discussion, Walton noted that he has been impressed with Michael Beasley's passing abilities thus far.

“I told Beasley today when I was talking to him, I've been really impressed with his passing skill,” Walton tells Silver Screen & Roll. “He's made some incredible reads and just soft little bounce passes.”

The Lakers acquired Beasley back in July. The former Kansas State stand-out played in 74 games with the New York Knicks last season, averaging 13.2 points on 50.7 percent shooting from the field (39.5 percent from beyond the arc), 5.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 22.3 minutes per outing.

Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka seems to like what he sees in Beasley's game as well.

“Michael adds another component of versatility to our deep roster,” Pelinka told NBA.com after signing Beasley. “His length and ability to guard multiple positions, stretch the floor, play-make and create his own shot are all essential characteristics for us. Coming off one of the finest years of his career, we think Michael is poised to have a very exciting and strong season for us.”

In a separate interview, Beasley noted that he is extremely excited to be playing under Magic Johnson's direction.

“(He’s) a guy I’ve dreamed of meeting my whole life,” Beasley said of Johnson. “To play for him is surreal.”

Beasley joins a talented Los Angeles roster. LeBron James is the headline in Hollywood now, but the Lakers have plenty of other great players on-board, including second-year teammates Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma, newly-acquired big man JaVale McGee, Lance Stephenson, and Rajon Rondo, who joined the team in the offseason.
