To celebrate Mamba Day and Kobe Bryant, you can now bid on rare, never-before-seen photos of the Los Angeles Lakers legend, which are being sold as non-fungible tokens via the digital collectibles blockchain company, Cryptograph.

The eight black-and-white photographs were taken in 1999 by Davis Factor at a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles.

“NFTs can eternalize and immortalize,” said Tommy Alastra, the co-founder of Cryptograph, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin. “This shoot is special because you don't see him in a jersey. He's Kobe Bean Bryant. You can see the father, the son, the husband come out. It's just him, raw, in everyday Kobe. It's special.”

The photos show a young Lakers star striking several poses, each with a distinct energy. Respectively, the eight photos are titled:

  • “Easy”: Bryant lounges in an unbuttoned leather jacket
  • “I See You”: Bryant looks and leans forward in an unbuttoned button-down
  • “Jump”: Bryant, in a black tee, elevating
  • “Leather”: Bryant in a leather jacket
  • “Sexy”: Bryant strikes a seductive pose
  • “Style”: Bryant dons an undone suit and fedora
  • “The Kiss”: Bryant makes a kissing gesture
  • “Time:” Bryant sitting, smiling, in a fedora and suit

The auction will last until Friday. At time of writing, the lowest leading bid for any of the NFTs sits at 0.50 ETH.

Proceeds from the “KOBE” collection will go to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, though the auction is not formally collaborated with the Bryant family trust.

The Lakers organization celebrated Mamba Day by gifting Bryant swag to newborn babies across Los Angeles.

Monday would have been Kobe Bryant's 43rd birthday.
