The Los Angeles Lakers did not exactly win the trade deadline on Thursday, falling flat on their faces in the race for Anthony Davis and ultimately trading Michael Beasley and Ivica Zubac to the Los Angeles Clippers for Mike Muscala.

With the Lakers offering up virtually their entire team outside of LeBron James in the Davis talks, you can imagine that some of the players may be a bit irked, but Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka seems to think everything will be okay and used an incredibly weird analogy to make his point:

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, because it doesn't make all that much sense.

The Lakers reportedly offered Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Zubac, Josh Hart, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and multiple draft picks to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Davis, but the Pelicans were not interested in Los Angeles' offer.

Now, the Lakers will have to wait until the summer to potentially trade for the superstar, but there really isn't much more they can do at this point.

It seems pretty obvious that New Orleans is not that enthralled with Los Angeles' young talent, and reports say that the Pelicans much prefer a potential Boston Celtics package that would likely feature young star Jayson Tatum.

Due to the “Rose rule” pertaining to Kyrie Irving, the Celtics were not permitted to trade for Davis by the deadline, but they will be free to pursue the 25-year-old this summer.

Now, Boston is considered by some to be the frontrunner for Davis.
