ESPN's Stephen A. Smith does not believe LeBron James will ask for a trade, despite the myriad rumors of complete dysfunction within the Los Angeles Lakers. From Magic Johnson's decision to quit on the spot, to the missing out on Monty Williams and Tyronn Lue — two of the top coaches available — the Lakers have been out of sorts. Yet it isn't any indication that James has had it with the organization, at least not yet:

“Jalen Rose said the same thing myself and even Max Kellerman said. [Rose said] ‘He should ask for a trade,'” Smith said on Monday's ESPN's “Get Up!” (h/t Tyler Conway of Bleacher Report) “In other words, we don't know. We don't believe that's what LeBron James will do. Matter of fact, I'm told it's not what he will do.

James just finished the first of four seasons he signed up to play with the Lakers, and has two remaining before he could test out free agency, likely for a final time in his career.

Many have attributed the fact that James made his move to L.A. for more than just basketball reasons, but to expand his empire and take part in movies, galas and all that comes with being in the center of Hollywood.

Putting his son, LeBron James Jr., through a much better high school circuit was also important to him, hence the reports on the latter's enrollment prior to James' final decision to ink a four-year deal with the Lakers.
