Shams Charania of The Athletic dropped a bomb on Lakers Nation when he reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are seeking permission to talk with Dwight Howard on a potential reunion, adding that there is mutual interest on both sides.

We all know how Howard's lone season in Los Angeles turned out. It was a flat out disaster that ended up with Dwight bolting Hollywood after an injury-riddled campaign. Moreover, he didn't necessarily have the best relationship with L.A.'s darling Kobe Bryant.

Needless to say, the news broke Twitter into a frenzy as Lakers fans (and even non-Lakers fans) made some hilarious reactions. Some weren't open to the idea at all.

Others poked fun at the potential of seeing Howard in a Lakers uniform again.

NBC Bulls even chimed in and thought that Shams was reporting fake news.

There are more hilarious reactions to the prospect of Howard rejoining Los Angeles.

The Lakers are in dire need of a big man after DeMarcus Cousins tore his ACL in a workout in Las Vegas. Cousins will likely miss the entire 2019-20 season.

Nothing is set in stone yet, as both Howard and the Lakers have yet to discuss. However, replacing Boogie is priority number one for the Purple and Gold right now, and Howard is probably the best available big man out there right now.

Sure, their history with the eight-time All-Star isn't too colorful. And Howard's reputation around the league has taken a hit over the past few years. But looking at the Lakers' situation, they are obviously just looking at their best options right now. They don't have that many anyway.
