Boston Celtic big man Al Horford believes the Los Angeles Lakers made the right move hiring Darvin Ham as their head coach. He knows the former Milwaukee Bucks assistant very well, and when it comes to winning, he is certainly the best man for the job among all the candidates.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, Horford had nothing but high praises for Ham, whom he worked alongside with when the new Lakers coach was still an assistant with the Atlanta Hawks. The Celtics big lauded the competitiveness of the 48-year-old tactician, something that the Purple and Gold needs from the man to lead them.

“Darvin is about as good a guy as you're going to see, a big competitor. Extreme competitor. The Lakers are really lucky to have a guy like him. He's the kind of guy that you want,” Horford said, per John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal.

The Lakers chose between Darvin Ham, Kenny Atkinson and Terry Stotts, but in the end, they decided to give the first-time head coach a chance considering his winning pedigree and tough attitude towards players.

Of course it remains to be seen if Ham can quickly transform the Lakers to title contenders. It's a job easier said than done given the current LA roster and their limitations in making changes. But if you're going to ask Al Horford, he seems confident the Sanigaw, Michigan native can do it.
