The Los Angeles Lakers appear confident of their chances of acquiring New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis in a trade in the offseason.

The Lakers failed to acquire Davis before the trade deadline in February, but they are not ready to give up on their hopes of pairing the superstar forward with LeBron James. Los Angeles is currently engaged with New Orleans about a potential trade involving Davis.

And according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, via Silver Screen and Roll, the Lakers feel that they are in the “driver's seat” in the race to acquire the 26-year-old from the Pelicans. Los Angeles believes that they are the team who can offer the best package to the Pelicans.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN recently reported that the Lakers made Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram available in trade talks.

The Lakers also won the fourth pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, which they are trying to use to acquire a high-level player who could improve their trade package for Davis.

The Boston Celtics are also reportedly determined to acquire Davis. But according to Shelburne, the Lakers feel that their trade offer is better even if the Celtics decide to include Jayson Tatum in the deal.

However, it remains to be seen if the Lakers would be able to find help from a third team to create the James-Davis dream pairing.
