Right now, many consider their 2027 and 2029 first-round picks as the best assets the Los Angeles Lakers currently have in terms of navigating the trade market in the offseason. It's no secret that LeBron James and the Lakers will be looking to augment their roster ahead of the 2022-23 campaign and they are expected to be quite active once trade season begins.

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, however, the Lakers remain hesitant in parting ways with their two future first-rounders. The only way they would be willing to include this in any deal is if it were part of a potential Russell Westbrook trade:

Based on their deadline activity, and everything that I’ve heard dating back to last season, I think the Lakers are going to do everything they can to retain their 2027 and 2029 first-round picks. But if trading one of the picks is the best path to dumping Westbrook and/or significantly improving the roster, I think they will strongly consider it.

Well, that's how much the Lakers want to get rid of Russell Westbrook. There's no denying that Russ' first season in Hollywood was forgettable, to say the least, and it sounds like the front office is more than ready to pull the plug on this failed experiment.
