Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported that teams are still annoyed about how Kawhi Leonard went about free agency, in particular, the Los Angeles Lakers.  The team apparently feels like Leonard led them along when he knew he would not be signing with them:

“I’ve heard complaints in the days after the signing. I heard complaints from the Lakers that they got played. I heard complaints from the Raptors that Kawhi came in and asked for the sun, the moon, the stars then left them at the altar.”

Obviously, the only team that is happy with where Leonard landed is the Los Angeles Clippers. But if it's true that Leonard actually did this to the Lakers, it would make sense why the franchise is holding a grudge against the Fun Guy.

In all likelihood, Leonard considered the Lakers but ultimately decided to build his own superteam with Paul George instead of joining one that had already been established. Nefarious planning and scheming to sabotage a team doesn't seem like a Leonard move.

However, we will probably never know the full truth of how close Leonard was to wearing the purple and gold. All we can count on is that STAPLES Center will be brimming with talent and house some great games next season.
