The Los Angeles Lakers are heading into the NBA offseason looking to add talent around their new superstar duo. After acquiring Anthony Davis in a massive blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, the franchise knows that they can't depend on him and LeBron James to power them to a championship on their own.

One of the biggest positions of need this offseason will be point guard. The Lakers traded Lonzo Ball to the Pelicans in the deal for Davis and have no legitimate point guards left on the roster. They won't have huge money left to spend, but there is one option that could make a lot of sense.

According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, it is “very possible” that the Lakers could pursue veteran point guard Derrick Rose this offseason in free agency.

Rose would be an intriguing option for the Lakers. He put together a big year with the Minnesota Timberwolves and looks to be 100 percent healthy for the first time in a long time.

During the 2018-19 NBA season with the Timberwolves, Rose ended up averaging 18.0 points per game to go along with 4.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds. He shot 48.2 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 37.0 percent of his three-point attempts. Rose is more than capable of fitting in alongside James and Davis.

He also has experience playing with James during their short time with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Los Angeles would prefer to sign either Kemba Walker or Kyrie Irving, but doing so will not be easy. Going after a second-tier free agent like Rose would make a lot more sense and would be much more affordable.

Expect to hear the Lakers show interest in quite a few free agents this offseason. They know their championship window is open and are going to do everything in their power to add as much talent as possible.
