There is plenty of optimism around the Los Angeles Lakers in the days leading up to the free agency period with the team positioned to potentially bring in two top-tier players on max contracts. Much of this talk has centered with All-Star forward Paul George being persistently connected making the leap to Los Angeles this offseason.

This is something that former NBA big man Ryan Hollins has voiced during a fill-in appearance on the Stephen A. Smith Show on Monday with that George will be in a purple and gold uniform in the 2018-19 season.

“But it's safe to say. Maybe from a little birdy in Ryan Hollins' ear. Maybe from conversations that I have had. Maybe from my sources that I am pretty much 99.9% sure that Paul George will be a Laker. Unless there is some amazing thing happening. Some miracle of faith. Paul George wants to come home. Paul George wants to be a Laker.”

Throughout much of the last year, George has been linked to the franchise since things became undone with Indiana Pacers as the two were unwilling to agree with a long-term extension with the team as the Lakers were the one team he singled out as where he wants to play.

This noise has only grown louder with the announcement on Monday morning that George will have a three-part series that will follow his entire offseason that will include after his expected free agency decision. It is an interesting decision to go that route at this point in time for a decision that will shape this next chapter of his career.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be well in the picture to possibly retain him, but the closer things get toward free agency the more noise is growing in the Lakers' favor to land the Palmdale native.
