Los Angeles Lakers backup point guard Alex Caruso continued to prove he’s more than just a meme with a putback dunk over the Grizzlies that got the crowd on their feet. Caruso seemed to fly in for the rebound after Anthony Davis missed on the line, but surprised everyone when he opted to put the ball in immediately for good measure.

The play should, in fact, not come as a surprise to frequent watchers of the Lakers. The 25-year-old has had his fair share of athletic plays, particularly high-flying dunks.

Caruso, nicknamed the Bald Eagle, has been playing solid minutes off the bench. He went undrafted in 2016, but eventually found his way to the Lakers roster. He currently plays as part of the second unit, putting up 5.5 points in around 18 minutes per game. Friday night’s game ended with the Lakers going past Memphis, 117-105. Caruso contributed 9 points and 4 rebounds.

The storied Los Angeles team currently stand tall at the top of the Western conference with a 41-12 record, and are on their way to make a championship run, especially in tribute to late Lakers icon Kobe Bryant.
