Kentavious Caldwell-Pope did his best to score with a rim-rattling dunk but to no avail. The Los Angeles Lakers' six-year man got rejected, not by a defender, but by the rim itself.

In this post by Bleacher Report, Caldwell-Pope tried to produce a highlight-material play at the expense of Jazz big man Rudy Gobert, but his plan backfired in terrible fashion.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope saw the opening and all he had to do was finish the play. However, the rim recorded a block to its credit.

The humorous moment, however, did not cost the Lakers the matchup. They went on to win their eighth game in 10 tries, 90-83. Caldwell-Pope went on to see 27 minutes of action on the court and tallied five points and two rebounds. Brandon Ingram and LeBron James led the way for the Lakers with 24 and 22 points, respectively.

Playing in a tough conference, the Lakers look really good despite the players' short time spent with each other and the injury to Rajon Rondo. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was an addition in 2017 and re-signed to stay with the team back in June. The acquisition of LeBron James fired up the team once again to a higher level.

Now at seventh place in the West with an 11-7 record, the Lakers look to keep things going as they hope to end their five-year playoff drought.

Caldwell-Pope is averaging 12.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in two seasons wearing the purple and gold. He has transitioned into a bench player this year but is still impressive by putting in 8.1 points nightly.
