Los Angeles Lakers All-Star LeBron James sent out a tweet on Tuesday afternoon to highlight the issues that some voters are reportedly dealing with at polling stations ahead of the 2020 Presidential Election.
There has been some speculation about voter interference and suppression at polling stations during this election season. James' tweet shows a woman in New York City that was denied her right to vote due to a MAGA rally that shut down the Mario Cuomo Bridge on Sunday. The caravan of Trump supporters also blocked a portion of the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey.
According to reports, 2,000 vehicles, fully-equipped with American flags and “Make America Great Again” stickers, took part in the traffic-stopping rally.
It's no secret that LeBron James does not see eye to eye with President Trump's political views. They've shared several back-and-forth moments on social media in recent years, which has created a highly-publicized rift between the two.
Trump supporters at a recent rally in Pennsylvania made it clear that they are not a fan of The King and his support of the Democratic party.
As Trump spoke about falling television ratings across all sports, a cheer began to ring out from the crowd: “LeBron James sucks… LeBron James sucks…”
“How about basketball?” Trump asked while segueing into a tangent about NBA television ratings at a rally in Avoca, Pennsylvania, via USA TODAY. “How about LeBron? I felt badly for LeBron, very badly. Down 71% and that's with the championship. I didn't watch one shot. I get bored. Back, forth, back, forth. You know why? When they don't respect our country, when they don't respect our flag, nobody wants to watch.”
In a separate instance, Trump’s supporters reportedly surrounded a Biden campaign bus on a Texas highway and rammed a campaign volunteer’s car that was driving alongside it. Biden's campaign managers actually decided to cancel the event after this incident.
Trump offered an interesting response to these reports, noting that the story is false and his supporters did nothing wrong:
James and the Lakers are fresh off an NBA championship — their 17th in franchise history. He's remained an advocate for social justice and fair voting practices. For now, we'll have to wait for Tuesday's election day results.
